Terenggun - A Protected World Heritage

January 30, 2006. I was driving to my hometown when my mom called. She told me that they were waiting for me so that we could go to Terenggun. She also said that the place has been restored now. how could I not get excited over that. Terenggun was once the recreational spot for the Kuala Lipis folks. I have lots of memories about that place. I was only a teenager back then and being at that age, at that place, many things could and would happen... I got home, took my lunch, did my prayer and rested for awhile and then off we went.

As we stepped out of the car, we were quite dissapointed to see that it has not been restored as what my mom thought. The place was left to deteriorate except for the jungle part, which has healthily grown. Even the famous bridge that span across the lake was not there anymore.

May be it is purposely done so in order to protect the jungle since humans are known to be very destructive.

Terrenggun is one of the designated protected and world heritage areas by UNEP and WCMC. May be by not turning it into a picnic and recreational area per say, would conserve the so called virgin jungle. I have no idea what is the concept of virginity to a jungle though.

Still, if you need to wind down, this is a place to be...
