Asking For Her Hand: Part 4 - A New Chapter

One by one, the passengers got off the plane and Little Lion was among the last that got down. Mama Lion went out from the waiting area but Bear remained inside. The plan was to jump on Little Lion but somehow she was already expecting Bear to be lurking somewhere not far from Mama Lion. Anyway, a little hug and then Little Lion noticed that Bear was wearing sandals. I told her that they belong to Papa Lion since he didn't want Bear to go through the trouble of wearing shoes. It took Little Lion quite sometimes to get over her giggling about that...

At the same time Papa Lion had arrived at the airport from the golf course with Ranto. Since Papa Lion and Little Lion were tired, we went straight home. Nothing much happened at home. Papa Lion went of to his room to rest and Little Lion filled her time teasing Bear. Luckily for Little Lion, Bear was unable to give chase since Bear have to behave in that house. After praying maghrib together, The Lions and Bear went for dinner in town.

Little Lion fooling around

We had crabs for the main dish and after dinner, we bought some martabak keju and durian (cheese and durian pancakes). Then Little Lion had a craving for Air Akar, which was a drink made from seaweed. Then we headed home.

Then, it seemed that the moment of truth had finally come. Papa and Mama Lion, together with Little Lion were sitting at the table enjoying the pancakes. Little Lion started to make all the signs to get Bear to say something but Bear just could not say anything, Instead, Bear kept on eating the pancakes, piece by piece. Seriously, Bear had no idea on how to initiate the proposal... Finally, Little Lion told Papa Lion that Bear had something to talk about and all of us moved to the family hall.

Papa Lion sat on the chair facing the TV. Mama Lion sat on a chair next to the TV and she was playing with the remote control, changing channels. Little Lion sat on the floor across Bear who sat on a stool, holding a big pillow. Papa Lion was smiling and Little Lion was still making all the signs to start. Bear was still blank. There was some moments of silence. However, the silence was so loud that Bear started to sweat profusely. Time passed so slowly and everyone was waiting for Bear to say something. It was one of the most tensed moments that Bear had ever had in his life. Eventually, Bear gathered all his strength and said:

"Saya mau yang itu... anak papa... yang itu..."

(I want that one... that daughter of yours...)

... while pointing to Little Lion.

Oh my God! Bear actually said that and there was nothing else to do but hide behind the big pillow. From behind the pillow, Bear heard laughters. Bear knew that Little Lion was probably rolling on the floor by that time. Then Bear heard Mama Lion said:

"Apa kamu ni? Kayak anak kecil aja..."

(What is it with you? You are like a little boy...)

... and she continued laughing.

By that time, Bear wished that he was invisible. Bear could feel that his face was all red. Peeking from the pillow, Bear said:

"Kalau boleh nanti saya bawa orang tua saya and family datang..."

(If there is no objection, I'll bring me family later...)

Then only Papa Lion started to say something and went on to give his advice about being married and living together as a family. It was a long session but useful. Then Papa Lion excused himself since he had to work the next day.

That was it! Bear had officially proposed to Little Lion and her family had accepted the proposal. Bear was very happy that night and let a sigh of relief while Little Lion wiped the sweats from Bear's face. It was a hot night indeed. Only then Little Lion told Bear about the supposed to be script when asking for someone's daughter... Bear had no idea...

Anyway, that night was the beginning of a new chapter in the life of the Berry Bear and Little Lion.

Before going to bed, Bear hugged Little Lion for a long moment, as if not wanting to let go. It was time to move on and we would do it together. Good night my Little Lion...

to be continued...
