January 15, 2006. We missed the usual fried rice and noodles breakfast at the hotel. Do you know that the hotel served the same breakfast everyday? What an easy life for the chef. Chances are, they were not even cooked there. Just guessing.
From the hotel, we walked to Mall Ambassador for lunch. Don't be fooled by the name. It sounded like a place where those expatriates would hang out. If you have been to the Low Yatt Plaza in Kuala Lumpur, then you now what that mall is all about.
So we went into the Bakmi Gajah Mada noodles restaurant. As I was browsing through the menu, I noticed that empek-empek was not in the list. The plan was that Diah was supposed to let me try the pangsit and empek-empek. I mentioned it to her and she quickly decided to take away her order and go out and look for the empek-empek. So, we went around the food court and finally we found a stall that sold it.
Pangsit was actually some kind of fried wanton and empek-empek kapal selam, which is a version of the empek-empek, was supposed to be in a shape of a submarine. I really had a good look at it but I could not find any resemblance to a submarine though the whole thing was submerged in a soy sauce like soup. I don't know. We forgot to take any photo of the two funny sounded food thingy (sounded funny to me, at least), since we were too hungry. By the time we realized that, it was too late. All of them had ended up in our tummies.
After lunch, we walked around the mall looking at handphones. And then Diah bought a few DVDs, which was much cheaper that what I could buy in Kuala Lumpur. Don't ask about the price ya.
Next, I wanted to watch another movie. This time we went over to Plaza Senayan hoping that there would be some other shows to be watched. As soon as I got the glimpse of that place, I knew that it would be screening the same shows as the previous cineplex since it belonged to the same company. In the end we ended up in Starbucks again. And Diah got her hard biscuit thingy again. At least she enjoyed that.
After the break, we went around looking for a birthday card for her sister. She wanted to get a card with 5 bears on it but believe me, go and try to find something like that. It was not easy at all. It was only about 4 pm and my Princess got bored and wanted to go home. Hesitantly, I was dragged back to the hotel.
