As tagged by Zan and Rotidua, here is bear's school meme thingy:
How many schools did I go to?
3 schools:
1. Sekolah Rendah Kebangsaan Clifford, Kuala Lipis, Pahang
2. Sekolah Menengah Clifford, Kuala Lipis, Pahang
3. Sekolah Menengah Teknik, Kuantan Pahang
Was I the studious nerd, or the last minute hero?
I hate reading especially the school books. I had never been able to stick to any study schedule. I could not study when people were busy studying. Everything was more under the JIT (Just in time) concept for me. I got through anyway.
Was I the class ‘taiko’ (don't-care-macho-attitude is what I presume it would mean in English) or the teacher’s pet?
I was hardly the teacher's pet. I was more a teacher's pest during those days. All the prefect was opposed to my election to be a prefect. The teachers were having a dilemma. They had one of the most notorious students who without fail would get at least one punishment a day and at the same time he was one of the students who had maintained good grades all the time.
I got my first public caning when I was 7 years old on the very first class of the very first day of my first grade. I just could not help myself from not making fun of all those crying boys and girls on their first day in school. I got an additional treatment from my mom after school. I blamed it on my kindergarten who taught me too much that I got really bored during my first 3 grades.
What was the biggest rule I broke in school?
It's hard to quantify the extend of the rules that were compromised. I'll list a few here:
1. Sneaked out of the school compound during recess via the back fence so that I could by a cola (sarsaparila) from that little shop down the road.
2. Successfully made a stunt leap from the second floor to the ground floor via a window while being chased by the disciplinary teacher.
3. Illegally sold food (nasi lemak) to students until the school cafeteria lodged an official complaint due to no business.
4. Mischievously stripped a male student's pants in front of all the teachers during a school assembly. (That boy should have worn an underpants.)
5. Unauthorized mixing of chemicals during Chemistry Lab that caused some cute little explosions.
I think you have got the idea and therefore, I would stop at no. 5.
Three subjects I enjoyed
1. Arts - for all the masterpieces that I drew and rejected due to the inflexible school's policy.
2. Chemistry - those cute little explosions.
3. Physical Education - I could fly like an eagle!!!
Three teachers that inspired me
1. My primary school disciplinary teacher for his persistence in chasing me around the school for 6 long years. "You! Stop right there!"
2. My secondary school art teacher who let me draw anything that I liked and strongly advised me not to take arts as a subject for the lower secondary school certificate (SRP). "Draw from your heart but don't draw for exams..."
3. My Bahasa Malaysia teacher in Kuantan who showed me the virtue of being patience and smile under any circumstances. She was a tough act to follow... "Diam semua, saya marah ni..." (Be quiet, I am angry...) but she was still smiling except for her face was a little bit more red than the usual...
